I purchased a rather large deep fryer the other day. After preparing disappointing french fries Wednesday (overcooked) I decided to try donuts. SMART MOVE. I have never made donuts before and located a recipe that calls for buttermilk which I had the foresight to purchase. I thought I would need yeast but the recipe I used called for baking powder and baking soda so the preparation process was much faster. After rolling the donuts out I improvised as I don't have a donut cutter. I used a biscuit cutter and another very small cutter. It worked and I started to fry.
And here are some of the donuts. Boy, they looked good....would they taste as good as they looked????
Yes, they did!! They were great.
When we were first married there was a donut truck that was by our apartment. We would often stop for a donut hot from the fryer and smothered in powdered sugar. These donuts were really close. I used a powder sugar shaker as when I first attempted to put the sugar on it melted. Well, that makes sense as they were really hot. Next time we will try dipping them in a saucer with powdered sugar after they cool a bit. Bottom line..they are great and we will definitely do them again. By the way, I have ordered two different sized donut cutters as having the hole cut out at the same time you cut the donut makes it simpler and faster.

A Beautiful Snow
The snow continued over night and when we awoke the sight was really lovely. The snow was fat flakes that decorated the trees - it was also light and easy to clean off the car.
We made it out to breakfast. Here we are on the way to town and as you can see, the roads are clear while the trees are clothed in white. They do a good job of clearing off the roads both main roads and in our little community.
We stopped at the dam to take some pictures. I posted this as it shows the trees. The Lake just looks cold - a big expanse of white. This picture was more interesting.
Right now it is 27 outside (8:40 AM) and the snow is falling off the trees as I look outside into the woods. We are anticipating a warm up. This is the kind of snow that is nice - pretty and around for a short time.

Ground Hog Day
It was a nice day. Warmed up to the mid 30's. We took a trip to the mall - about 30 miles. Why???? MY BLACKBERRY DIED!! Now I realize this is not the end of the world stuff! But, I was amazed how much I used it...and how much I missed it. It was on, working and I put it in my purse. Then, when I went back to check..it was dead.. After attempting to recharge which didn't work, we headed into the store at the mall today to find out just why. And, as I suspected, it was the battery. It's a bit over one year (warranty is one year) and so no help there. Rather than pay the $40 plus at the ATT store, I said I'd check on line and we headed home. When I went on line at my first stop site - Amazon - I found the soooo much cheaper - as I have found most electronics. So I ordered 2 as B has a phone too and you never know when your battery is going to go. We were looking around the store and I'm really impressed with what I saw about the iPhone. Anyone out there have one??? what do you think???
And when we got home and were doing things it started snowing. Boy, it really looks lovely. So I've uploaded 2 pictures. They are saying we should get an inch or so. We shall see. The snow is rather heavy and so the flakes are fat and the trees look love;u!
We are still full from the Super Bowl Pig Out we had yesterday... and we enjoyed the nail biting finish!!! Happy Ground Hog's Day!!!
