Here we are, after a really crappy week of weather - ice, sleet and SNOW. Our weekend storm dumped about 11 inches on top of the several inches we had. And now, snow in the forecast Tuesday/Wednesday for 2 to 4 inches. Enough already!!!
We got out to breakfast this morning which was nice. I'm working on the computer and B is watching TV after doing a bit of snow plowing. The battery on the SUV needs to be charged again so later he will go get a new battery. Perhaps I will do some baking.
I did get started on cookies. I've been hungry for biscotti and have a great recipe from Giada DeLaurentiis's book Giada's Family Dinners for chocolate anise biscotti. I had purchased red & green chocolate chips the other day so I made the biscotti using them. it looks great and tastes so good! Here is a picture.....
I'm thinking maybe a pumpkin cake roll later today - I have a recipe from when I catered and haven't made it for quite some time. Maybe today is the day.
But first, I'm working on our Christmas Card. I have some pictures chosen - one of B, one of Hone and my picture is lacking. B takes my picture and often catches me with my mouth open or some such thing. He took some yesterday closer up and with my knowledge so I'll see how they are. Not going to send out a card with my picture looking "dumb". So that's today's plan...

December Weather
The weather continues to be varied – up and down
temperatures. We have had lots of cold days – several this past week that were
below freezing all day. We had two storms this weekend. The first dumped about
an inch of snow that was pretty. However, by Saturday afternoon a winter
weather advisory was issued for Sunday late afternoon into this morning for the
storm that was a surprise hit in the Philly area (if you watched the Eagles
game you saw the SNOW). We were
expecting snow, then ice that would then change to rain. Well, when I went to
take Honey out at 5:30 AM for her first walk of the day, we skated across the
driveway to the crusty grassy area. Not a thick layer of ice on top of the snow
that had fallen the day before, but enough to make walking iffy. She did her
thing and in we came. It wasn’t raining – more of a misty wetness that has yet
to change over to rain. The plow truck was up our hill clearing the road and
probably cindering. Our local school district is closed, as are several other
districts in the area. Around 9 AM a car went up our road, made it right past
our driveway and with tires spinning got stuck. Try as he might, the car was
not going to go up – sideways yes, up no. So, he sensibly backed into our
driveway a bit and got out. It was the paper person and after tossing our paper
onto the driveway he trudged slipping and sliding up the hill to deliver the
paper to someone up the road. That was the only car we have seen this morning.
This weather has helped put us in the holiday spirit. I’ve
ordered several Christmas albums on the Internet (love Amazon Prime!). Not much
scheduled for today as I plan to work on the Mac and do some things in the
kitchen. Just a laid back day. Doubt we will be going anywhere until it warms
up enough to melt any ice.
