And the Rain Continues
Happy July! It's raining...so what's new???
This morning it was overcast but no rain. We stopped at the lake on our way to breakfast to see how things were. The lake is higher and you can see ruts and debris from the force of the rain. We heard on the local news that Hawley, where we go for breakfast, got 5 inches of rain. We drove around a bit on the way home and noticed many ruts along the road and in or along driveways. We attempted to drive around our circle but a rather large tree lay across the road several houses up from ours. Fortunately no electric lines were in the way. Before we got to the tree, we did notice several neighbors had some major erosion as their properties slope down to the road and then to the lake. Fortunately we did not have any damage though there is water coming from the woods in the back down both sides of the driveway. We have culverts on either side of our circle that were filled with rushing water. As the culvert passes under our driveway the water nearly flowed over the driveway. Today there is still water flowing but not with yesterday's force. Right now it's raining again - and the local forecast is for continued rain/thunder storms all week. B suggested we sleep on the boat tonight - "just in case"....yea, sure....good one! At least this isn't snow!
Below are some pictures I took yesterday when I ventured out after the rain let up a bit.

From the middle deck down the road - the water is from the two culverts on either side of the road
On the back patio where the water is rushing to the stream
From the back patio out to the stream. We have never seen it this wide!
From the deck looking over the middle deck to the end of the driveway. The water is coming out of the culvert that runs under the driveway
Water on the way to the stream and then the lake.
Rain, Rain and then, MORE Rain!
Boy, along with a large part of the NE, we got a LOT of rain yesterday. While Saturday was cloudy with some rain, it cleared up enough for us to eat outside Saturday evening. Sunday started out dark and rather rainy and then the heavens opened up and it rained...kinda like you would expect it to have rained for 40 days and 40 nights. Thankfully, it just rained all day. Sometimes it tapered off - that's when Honey would dash out for a potty time - but much of the day was heavy rain. A town down the road recorded 4 inches of rain and I would think we got that as well. We were out taking pictures on the way to breakfast. I'm throwing a few up now and will probably have more later.
This is the road at the bottom of our circle.
The lake and access to the lake where the run off from the hill really created a mess!
Shot from the road down to the lake - water still flowing heavy this morning even though the rain has stopped (for the most part)
