Sun shines early

Well, you can really tell spring is on it's way... the sun shines earlier and that's really NICE.
I made beef stock today... got a new cook book... that is really good. So, I decided to make beef stock and tomorrow make soup. I had beef bones and such from a shopping trip.... Shop Rite is not too far from here. (: Baked the bones in the convection oven.... smelled good. then put them in the crock pot and added roasted veggies and water then smelled it all afternoon.... soooooo good. So I just drained the stock and... put it outside. That is the nice thing about winter. Yes, I have room in the refrigerator... but, it warms things up... so much easier to just stick it out on the deck. The sliding door is right off the living room next to the breakfast area... so it's easy and tomorrow I'll just clean off the fat and use it for soup!!! YEA!!!!!

I thought we were going to have warmer weather but it has really been cold. We were out yesterday and the wind was so fierce... we really were cold just in the few minutes from the house to the car. We are expecting snow/mix Sunday night so we will do breakfast tomorrow and plan to be home Monday. So, oatmeal is a good change.

And March is just down the road.... and spring around the corner.

Reflections

Well, it's Saturday... and we did get out today. We not only went to breakfast but to WalMart. Our favorite place to be!!!! It was quite sunny and much of the snow on the roads and driveway melted. They finally opened some major roads that had been closed due to the snow mess. Gov. Ed was on TV and he accepted the blame... I have to say Ed doesn't pass the buck... We have always liked him!

Nothing on TV tonight... Well, have a book I'm reading so that's what I'll do as there really is nothing I want to look at. Warming up next week... nice! Makes me think of SPRING I've purchased some seeds - this year I'm going to try herbs from seeds. Last year I had trouble finding what I wanted... so this year I'll start them myself. We shall see... I'll post pictures of this experiment.

Snow pictures

This is a picture after the snow stopped. Yes, I know I have them in reverse order. I'm just glad I got them uploaded!! B was smart to park the suv back off the driveway. Rather than get the snow blower too close to the car, he resorted to digging it out. You can see where the sun has already started to melt things. The temps are still in the teens but the sun was really bright today!
Thank goodness for the snow blower. This is a real "guy" thing.... lights, gears, the whole nine yards .... and really needed! This is out the back by the septic hill. B was just getting started.

This is the start of the storm before it turned to ice. It was a pretty view from the inside.

SNOW, SNOW, SNOW

While I realize that the title is unimaginative, it's true... we got snow! It wasn't a surprise, the TV and news gave us warnings. The storm started out with snow, changed to ice then back to snow. The ice part was strange. If you can picture very small pieces of shattered safety glass, that's what the ice was like. It hit and bounced. It pressed down on the snow that had fallen. The outside temperature was in the teens yet this ice was falling. Very strange. The good thing was it wasn't coating the trees so we had limited wires down. We were out several times with the snow blower. B ran that while I swept the steps and worked on the car. We stayed home Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We were out to breakfast this morning and the roads were snow covered but not bad. We put the SUV into four wheel drive on our hill and the back road. I've posted more pictures in another posting as I'm having trouble with getting the pictures into this one.
