A busy day

Today was lovely and busy! Sun most of the day with occasional clouds. Because of the pollen and tree crud, we put off cleaning the back area where we have a stone patio and therefore have not been able to cook back there. I did get some flowers planted in the two planters and cleaned off the table and two chairs. We tackled the rest today, power washing the furniture and cleaning up stuff. Between that and general "neatening" it looks nice. I still need to clean the grill - it's on my things to do this week list. Right now it's thundering and the sky has darkened. Just as well as we are tired. I do hope the rain will hold off as we plan to grill chicken on the grill on the wrap-around deck. That along with fresh asparagus and fresh (well, trucked in fresh) corn.

While working outside after lunch, B was in the front getting the bucket and car wash (he has been washing cars daily) when he came charging up the front steps. He raced into the house to shut the slider so Honey couldn't go outside and got a pail of soapy water. The cause for this burst of action was a snake he "found" as he picked up the bucket. Apparently it was after a mouse.  I raced for the camera and took pictures as B dumped water on the bugger and off it slithered.

Right at the bottom of the steps in the garden. At first he "froze" but when B dumped water on it, it started to slither.

And as it slithered, it went after the mouse

And emerged with the poor mouse. Fortunately, B dumped more water at that time and the mouse got away and the snake slithered off. ICKY

About Me

After working for 40 years in education, I retired and with my husband moved to the "wilds" of PA. This blog is thoughts and pictures of what we are doing.
