The Tomatoes are Lookin Good!

What a beautiful day! It was so hot and muggy yesterday. Then the thunder and rain came last night and this morning it was cool and clear. Below is a picture of "Husky Cherry Red" tomato. Small, but its only early June!! Yea!

These are tomatoes I bought early last month and they were only about 6 inches tall. I planted them right away and then purchased the cages anticipating they would grow. I had tomato plants quite a while ago and did remember how tall they got. I had forgotten that they needed to be cut back on the bottom so the plant would concentrate on growing tomatoes instead of branching out. (Thanks Jeff) The plant below is "Sweet 100 Hybrid". I've also got "Park's Whopper", "Early Girl" (not doing as much as these two), "Golden Jubilee" (yep, should be yellow), and "Mr. Stripey" an heirloom tomato. I also planted from seed Big Boy and a Roma tomato. They are not as far along but looking good. don't need a cage yet but I'm going to stake them tomorrow in anticipation of their growing more.

And then, there is always the salad mix that keeps growing after I cut it. This is a keeper...from seed and I'll plant more in the fall as it does well in cooler weather.
